At Best Practices Packaging, we specialize in the development and manufacturing of medical packaging with certified child resistant closures.

In response to the demands of State regulators across the USA, we have produced a line of multi-state compliant containers for the retail sale and management of medicinal cannabis products.  This includes specialized containers for raw products as well as edibles and condensed oils.

Our talking packaging is unique.  There is much to tell the consumer that will not fit on a label.

The product has a far lower carbon footprint than a bottle or can.

It is superior to competitive retail containers, as it inhibits the growth of particulate mold.

Our TalkPaq (tm) is the only interactive, flexible container of it's kind in the National marketplace.

WHY IS THIS THE ULTIMATE CONTAINER FOR REGULATED MEDICINE?

Mold Inhibitor
First off, our pouch inhibits mold. Particulate mold is the number 1 complaint of the end user, dispensary, and the quality control inspectors managed by State regulators.

The TalkPaq:  NFC Enabled Information
With a simple wave of your smartphone over the top of our container, instantly you are offered an electronic gateway in audio, video, and text through your phone.

Literally, the package starts talking through your phone, and it can tell the consumer anything you want it to. For example~ Warnings, regulatory information and updates, promotional opportunities, substance abuse counseling links and more.

Many with visual impairment cannot read warning labels. Glaucoma is regularly treated with cannabis based medicines. Our containers can provide dosage and warning information in voice format, and also offer it to the consumer in a range of languages.

Additionally, the system can also link users to recognized libraries of medical information at their fingertips.

With one wave of a smart-phone, a world of options are opened to the consumer. We can provide a depth of information and disclosures impossible to offer on a printed label.

What exactly do we make?

Our unique packaging line offers a range of NFC ENABLED (Near Field Communication), child resistant containers which are designed to exceed Multi-state regulatory requirements for the sale of cannabis products of all kinds. including edibles, raw products, etc.

Our packaging offers additional features for regulators, dispensaries, and the end user which may surprise you. In essence, our packaging picks up where the widely adopted MITS tracking program leaves off.

Our system is simple to use, and unlike MITS, you don't need expensive RFID readers to check on a package. Just wave your smart-phone over the top of the container, and a range of information is instantly available to the regulator, dispensary or end consumer.

There are significant benefits to the grower and dispensary. With NFC, individual brands can provide the consumer links to their product information, promotional material and brand couponing at their will. They can send music, video, text, and catalog links offering virtually endless possibilities.

Through our new, NFC enabled containers, the consumer also has access to medical information, product warnings, instant links to substance abuse assistance, regulatory updates and more.

State compliance issues addressed by this container:

1) Opaque
The package does not allow the contents to be seen from the outside.

2) Scent Barrier
The package has a metallized layer which acts as a scent barrier. No smell outside the containers.

3) Child Resistant
The package has an ASTM certified child resistant locking closure.

Child Resistant Closure protects contents from accidents

The World Health Organization and UNICEF state that child resistant packaging is one of the best-documented successes in preventing accidental poisoning of children. A child resistant package usually requires a special ‘trick’ to open it – something too complicated for most young children to work out.

The TalkPaq offers a locking ASTM certified, locking zip closure which is child resistant, yet may still be opened by patients with arthritis or other hand ailments. This feature is compliant per multiple state requirements.
Mold-inhibiting construction

Unlike competitive containers, the TalkPaq features an oxygen scavenger which collects 02 molecules and inhibits the growth of mold. This is the number one complaint from dispensaries and consumers alike.
Sealed Labels

There is a compartment on the pouch to accept a business card sized label which may be printed on 2 sides. The TalkPaq label is sealed on the inside of the container pocket, so the labels are not press applied, they are under the laminate. This feature is compliant per multiple state regulations.

The Best Practices Packaging line for Cannabis related products has been developed not only to meet current regulations, but to exceed and proactively address the future needs of a compliant package.
NFC-ENABLED TalkPaq Talking Pouches

One wave of your smart-phone over the top of the package and a world of information becomes instantly available. Is your salesman tied up, and can't get right to all your customers? No problem, you can program all the sales information into your TalkPaq. Talking Packages! The customer hears consistent, accurate information exactly like the brand wants.
NFC NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATIONS

It's so easy~ Simply wave your smart-phone over the top of the TalkPaq, and it instantly enacts the talking package feature. Now the package can provide the consumer all kinds of information limited only by the imagination. Audio, video, music, text, even links to internet sites with a world of options.

Technically speaking, NFC is a short-range, low-power communications protocol between two devices. One device, the initiator (in this case, the smart-phone), uses magnetic induction to create a radio-wave field that the target (chip) can detect and access, allowing small amounts of data to be transferred wirelessly over a relatively short distance (in NFC's case, the distance must be less than 4 inches).

In short, just wave your smart-phone over or tap the package and it starts talking to you, offering you a gateway to a range of information of your choice.
What happens when the buyer waves their smart phone over the package?

With one wave of a smartphone over the TalkPaq, the NFC enabled talking package links your customer to a world of information of your design. The package can talk to the consumer, and tell them exactly what you want them to know.

Customers are given a range of options at the choice of the regulators and dispensaries.

For example, audio, video, text, apps and more may be available:

a) Product information/Audio for visually impaired patients, Text for deaf consumers. Games, Sweepstakes entry, brand related promotions and more.

b) Regulatory summary/warnings/ Audio for visually impaired patients, Text for deaf consumers.

c) Links to rehab/substance abuse educational opportunities in their area.

d) Multilingual information options.

e) Libraries of information which could never be printed on the limited space of a label.
Product information

The possibilities here are endless. Catalogs, brand information, you name it. Enacted by the NFC chip, the voice on the phone takes over to speak the text:

“Dreamland420” is an indica strain grown in Yakima, Washington by Windy Farms. This hydroponic strain was picked while running a maximum 16.1% THC rating. THC A comes in at 17.4% and CBD Maximum runs 0.25% CBDA runs 0.04% CBD runs 0.22% CBN 0.33%. “
